 Jessica
Jessica joined Urban Dove in the beginning of her sophomore year of high school – and soon had a second family that taught her life and people skills, and cared about her education. For Jessica, Urban Dove has been an empowering experience -- making her more determined, confident and a much better student. Urban Dove also helped her realize that failing was not an option. Working two to three days a week with the younger children in Urban Dove’s HiRisers Program has been a profound experience for Jessica. Their smiles and enthusiasm continue to brighten her days and she hopes that she has had the same impact on them. Urban Dove has motivated her to push all her limits and get things done. While participating in Urban Dove’s College All Stars program, Jessica participated in 150 hours of workshops, campus tours, and 40 hours of SAT Prep that resulted in her final score jumping by 100 points. She credits Urban Dove with teaching her teamwork, communication and leadership skills. Jessica will graduate from high school in June 2009 and plans to pursue a career in medicine or education.
