June 26, 2008 March 28, 2008 Urban Dove’s HiRisers program in the Bronx was recognized as a “terrific example of student mentoring” according to Christine Park, president of the New York Life Foundation. This $25,000 general support grant was presented at a luncheon held on Friday, March 28th in the New York Life building in Manhattan. Jai Nanda, Executive Director, Richie Cerrud, Program Director and Carolyn Nash of Urban Dove accepted the award on behalf of the entire Urban Dove family. Each year the New York Life Foundation’s Nurturing the Children Initiative recognizes the important work done by local nonprofits by awarding a total of $150,000 to a selected six organizations in the New York City area. This year’s awardees were organizations that specialize in student mentoring and offer youth in New York City the chance to build and sustain positive and caring relationships with adults and peers.
